The N scale (1:160 scale) kitset I used for the purpose of this article is a Kestrel Design product from England. It is a small house, a one level bungalow, of cream 'brick' with a 'tile' roof.
Other companies which make N scale house kitsets are Faller, Model Power, Grandt Line, and Aufhagen. N scale kitsets can be bought from hobby shops specialising in model railroads or from on-line retailers.
Using an N Scale Kitset
As a general rule, all kitsets in 1:160 scale are made of styrene, a kind of molded plastic used for model making. Fine details such as brickwork and roof tiles are etched into the pieces. Windows and door openings are ready-cut. The pieces come attached to struts for ease of handling. Window frames and sometimes door frames, depending on the kitset, are supplied. Some kitsets come with the styrene parts ready-coloured.
